Indonesia, you rule!

Thanks to all the crazy Indonesian metal fans that came out to see us on our mini tour earlier in November...it was definatley an eye opening and amazing time for all of us.

We were fortunate to play in Jakata, Bandung, Solo, Malung and Bali...we are already planning the next trip there!!

If you ever get the chance to visit Indonesia - do it! The place and the people are the best! Special thanks to Jason Xenophobic, Soluties, Burgerkill, Age & the Bali metal community, and everyone else who were so welcoming to us.

In other news, we're writing new tunes at the moment and hopefully will have some more news on all that soon.

Home from the Festivals

We have just returned home from our European summer festival tour...and thanks to everyone for coming out - we had a blast! This was our first time in Europe in the Summer time, and we loved it. We're back home now in the winter and the rain, wishing we were still there...ah well, there is always next summer to look forward to...

We'll have more info in the next few weeks about our upcoming DVD release...which should be really cool. We'll keep you posted.

We're going back into writing mode for the next album now so we wont be touring for the rest of 2009. We'll have some dates for 2010 later in the year

In the mean time check out the new merch we have in our webstore.

Busy times, slack band members

Sorry from the Psycroptic camp for not updating the site sooner! With all the myspace hype these days its easy to forget about the ol faithful website!!

Since the last update we have completed a US tour with Carcass, Samael and Suicide Silence, and a second run with Suffocation, Whitechapel, Decrepit Birth and Veil of Maya. Both were sick, and we thank the US fans for coming out...

Following this, we hit Australia with The Amenta, and Ruins. This was an awesome time, and we're suprised that we all remain in once peice.

The DVD is almost complete, and it looks killer! It will have a complete live show, rehearsal footage, tour stuff, behind the scenes video clip stuff and a lot more. Should be a great package. This looks like it will be coming out later in the year. We'll keep everyone updated.

We will be in Europe this August for the festival seasons - check out the myspace for the exact dates. Looks like there might be some other touring later in the year...so again, keep checking back.

Thats it for now, we have new merch in the webstore so check that out too

European Tour

Psycroptic thanks everyone who came out to the shows on our recent European tour. It was by far the best European run we have done thanks to both our buddies in Black Dahlia, Cephalic Carnage and Sylosis, and all the fans that came out. We cant wait to get back over there in the Summer for the festivals. We'll have more news on that very soon.

To all our friends in the US - we will see you on the Carcass and Suffocation tours, which will see us touring the US until late April. Come out and say hi. Check out the myspace page for up to date tour dates.

We will have more news soon on our upcoming DVD, which is in the editing phase at the moment.

more to come soon!

Ob(Servant) press

Below is some of the initial feedback to 'Ob(servant)':

“A magic moment for the technical death metal genre!“
ROCK HARD / 9 out of 10 points / Björn Thorsten Jaschinski
"Worship at the altar of these Tasmanians' technical death metal madness!"
DECIBEL MAGAZINE (US) / Albert Mudrian
“With their newest output „Ob(Servant)“ PSYCROPTIC redefine the term technical death metal. With an extremely frantic and selfconfident approach these tazmanian devils take the genre to the next level.“
LORDS OF METAL (NL)
„Tech masters PSYCROPTIC are again raging like the tasmanian devil himself!“
METAL HAMMER / 5 von 7 Punkten / Florian Krapp
„PSYCROPTIC new album „Ob(Servant)“ is way more to the point than their previous effort as well as their live gigs. Somestimes less is more although those Tasmanians do still have a lot of technical stuff within their sound. Arranged and put on in a more modern way, „Ob(Servant)“ scores most of all with its cutting riffs!“
METAL HAMMER / 5 von 7 Punkten / Anzo Sadoni
This band has been hiding in the underground and brewing something good. It's time that the rest of the world gets to experience this exotic blend of aggression. Highly recommended!
SCREAM MAGAZINE (NOR) / Håkon Grav
“Finally the Tasmanian lunatics are positioned to get their rightful dues... „Ob(Servant)“ will stand as one of the premiere metal releases of 2008. The future of Death Metal is here and now!“
THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER / Trevor Strnad
"Man, I was really impressed with this album, „Ob(Servant)“ is a killer slab of brutality with grooves and killer vocal patterns and it’s done perfectly! Tasmania has a new devil and its called PSYCROPTIC!"
KATAKLYSM / Maurizio Iacono
“PSYCROPTIC may well be in the rarefied position of having never released a disappointing album, but even by their own high standards „Ob(Servant)“ is going to take some beating. A tech-death tour de force which rips and punishes in equal measure, coupled with high-precision ferocity and good old Antipodean guts. Very few bands can match these Tasmanian devils when it comes to making dazzlingly-difficult metal sound so damn angry.“
ZERO TOLERANCE (UK) / Calum Harvie
“Tasmanian devils PSYCROPTICs „Ob(Servant) strikes with precise brutality, intensity and just the right amount of groove! A masterpiece in mighty technical death metal!“
METAL.DE / Markus Endres / 9 von 10 Punkten
'Sick songwriting meets technical perfection! Tasmanias PSYCROPTIC deliver their masterpiece and do not need to fear comparisons on an international level!“
METALNEWS.DE / Thomas Kleinertz

US tour report

Summers all gone for us with the end of the amazing Summer Slaughter Tour in the US – 35 shows of insanity right around the whole country! We are now back in the cold winter of Australia – yes it actually is very cold in Tasmania at the moment. The Summer Slaughter was Psycroptic's first US tour and it was a huge success for us – we cannot wait to get back, and plans are already in the works!

The tour was hectic as hell for us – not only were we trying to focus on playing each day and sell merch, we were also trying to put together our new album 'Ob(Servant)'...by listening to mixes of the songs sent to us via email, as well as making numerous international phone calls back to Australia to give our graphics guy Scott instructions on the booklet artwork. We should also send thanks to everyone who lent us a stereo to check things out on (thats you Black Dahlia and Whitechapel). Sometimes laptops with shitty sound just dont cut it to approve an album mix on.

The shows themselves were insane. Horns up to everyone who came out – the response we received from the US crowd made us feel very welcome, and eager to come back. You guys rule! Sick as hell!

As usual with any Psycroptic tour there were fun bumps to overcome that made things more interesting – trips to the emergency room in Florida (hi to the ambulance driver who loved Kataklysm and listened to Ozzy while driving), van breakdowns in Memphis (cheers once again Black Dahlia for letting us hitch on the bus for 3 days), trailer problems in and being stuck in the Arizona desert (thanks to the Faceless for lending us a tire iron), searches by cops in New Mexico, the constant negotiations with venues over 'merch rates' (this is a concept we had never heard of – the venue taking money off you for letting you sell merch!! How about a cut of the beer money then assholes?) and the list goes on. All fun and games! Wouldn't change any of it though (except the hospital bill!).

To all the bands – Black Dahlia, Kataklysm, Cryptopsy, Aborted, Faceless, Whitechapel, Born of Osiris, Despised Icon and Vader – thanks for the killer times, and we look forward to doing it again very soon. Thanks to the Nuclear Blast crew as well for making us feel very welcome at our new home. Super thanks goes out to the new honorary Tasmanian Tony Reust (from Unmerciful) for filling in on vocals for the last leg of the tour, as Jason returned to Tasmania to welcome his first born daughter Audrey (who is doing very well by the way). Tony did a killer job – both in vocally and accent wise (your vocals are better than your accent though!) You rule bro!

Things are busy here for us at the moment, as we are prepairing for the release of the new album in mid October (on Nuclear blast worldwide, and Stomp in Australia) and all the fun touring that it will bring. We hope to see you all again very soon!

Update

Psycroptic have just returned from a short Australian tour and are now currently hard at work writing material for the as yet untitled new album. Live shows have been put on hold as the writing process is now the main priority and all energy is focused on this. It is hoped the band will enter the studio in late 2007 to record, with an early to mid 2008 release planned.

Joe (Guitars) and Dave (drums) are both new accepting students for lessons - Dave in the Melbourne/Hobart area and Joe in the Hobart area. For more info send an email to psycroptic@hotmail.com

US fest appearance cancelled

Psycroptic regret to announce that they have been forced to cancel their scheduled appearance at this years Maryland Death Fest. The band were very much looking forward to playing their first US show at the fest, but due to circumstances beyond both the band's and the MDF promoters control the appearance has to be cancelled. All efforts were made to make it happen, but in the end it was out of everyones hands.

Return from tour

Psycroptic have just returned from an event filled, but successful European tour with Deicide and Visceral Bleeding. As most people know, Glen Benton was not able to make the tour due to personal reasons, but the tour went on none the less with the help of Seth from Severe Torture for the first 4 shows, then Daray from Dissenter filling in on vocals for the remaining dates. Jason (Psycroptic) also stepped up and helped out with a song each night which was a very proud moment for all of us.

Unfortunately after the Essen show Joe had to be taken to hospital after he collapsed. This resulted in Psycroptic having to cancel the 4 remaining shows of the tour in Holland, Germany and Belgium. Joe was very keen to play these shows, but he had to rest upon doctors (and the rest of Psycroptic’s) orders.

A special thanks goes out to Mic Summerton, who handled bass for us in Cam’s absence. Mic can usually be seen at the mixing desk, as he is Psycroptic’s live sound engineer.

Now back at home, Psycroptic have begun work on new material, as well as working on a US tour for sometime in 2007.

As for Australian shows, Psycroptic have 4 shows currently lined up, which will be the last shows for quite some time as work on new material is the main priority. Check out the gig section for details on these shows.

Deicide Tour

Psycroptic will shortly be heading back to Europe to support Deicide on their 2007 European Tour. Check the gigs section for tour dates. Psycroptic are all very excited about this tour. Unfortunately Cam cannot take part in this tour due to work commitments - so long time Psycroptic sound engineer Micheal will be filling in for Cam on bass duties.

Cannibal Corpse support +update

Psycroptic have just been confirmed as the main support on the Cannibal Corpse Australian tour. Psycroptic are very excited to be playing with our friends in CC again! Unfortunatley, we will not be appearing on the New Zealand shows as printed on the tickets - due to the INSANELY high costs they are trying to charge for flights there at the moment. We were all set and excited to play New Zealand for the first time, but this will now have to wait. The dates are:

October 3rd - Hi Fi, Melbourne
October 4th - Gaelic Club, Sydney
October 5th - Arena, Brisbane
October 9th - Fowlers Live, Adelaide
October 10th - Heat, Perth

Some additional Perth dates after the CC tour will be added soon.

Also, thanks to the people that came out to our Canberra and Melbourne shows - these shows were excellent!

The new website is almost complete and from what we have seen thus far Tom has done an exceptional job. Will be online in the coming weeks...
